The former Royal Oak Garage building lies within the constraint area of the Scheduled Monument known as 'Nailsea Glassworks' (National Heritage List ref. 1021462, SAM 28884), although the building itself is excluded from this Schedule. It dates to the later part of the 1860s and appears on an 1870 plan of the glassworks (BRO 37959 (22)) as a ‘French Kiln’.
